An expansion of the existing hockey arena in Sault Ste. Marie, this project to transform the space into the city’s main community centre accommodating additional sports and recreational activities. Completed in multiple phases based on funding availabilities, the first phase included a hockey rink, gymnastics club, restaurant facility, goalie shooter school, concessions and six dressing rooms. Phase two then saw the addition of a 25-metre pool, a lap pool, a children’s pool, family dressing rooms, community meeting rooms and a field house. With separate entrances for each major function of the facility, this project also included the creation of an interconnected and shared mechanical and electrical infrastructure system.
