An existing hockey arena was expanded to become the city’s main community centre that included sports, and recreation activities. A phased approach allowed the project to move forward based on confirmed funding. Subsequent phases began once additional funding became available The first phase included a hockey rink, gymnastics club, restaurant facility, goalie shooter school, concessions and six dressing rooms. Phase two contained a twenty five meter pool, a lap pool, children’s fun pool, family dressing rooms, community meeting rooms and a field house. The complex has separate entrance lobbies for each of its major functions so that they can operate independently. The two facilities are also interconnected and share mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
