This Master Plan focused on the Blue Water Bridge, Canadian and U.S. customs plazas in Point Edward, Ontario and Port Huron, Michigan. In February 2013, Blue Water Bridge Canada (BWBC) and the Michigan Dept. of Transportation initiated a joint project to develop a Master Plan under the premise of a One Bridge concept to operate as a single bridge authority. The purpose was to increase operational efficiencies, reduce costs, and improve customer service, based on a holistic design approach to provide a single set of management services that operate both the U.S. and Canadian plazas.
